Zoe Saldana, born June 19, 1978, was the daughter of Asalia Nazario as well as Aridio Saldana. Her father was Dominican and her mother Puerto Rican. Her family was raised by her mother who lived in Queens. When she was 10 years young her family and she relocated towards the Dominican Republic, where they would live for the next seven years. Zoe began to develop a fascination to dance while in Dominican Republic. She began training in the ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy in which she was able to study dance and various forms of dance.
